Choosing a salon or spa

A good result depends a lot on the specific stylist or esthetician, not just the salon's name -- ask about the individual, not just the business.

• For a new stylist, ask for a consultation before a major change (colour, cut) rather than booking the full service sight unseen.
• Ask about product lines used, especially if you have allergies or sensitivities.
• Confirm cancellation and no-show policies before booking, particularly for longer appointments.
• For licensed services (esthetics, some treatments), confirm the practitioner's certification.
